About FreedomPop

Having only been launched in 2011, FreedomPop is a relatively young network. If you’re a light mobile phone user, this might just be the network to use thanks to the free package offered which includes 200 minutes, 200 texts and 200MB per month. But keep in mind that features such as usage alerts, voicemail and data rollover do come with a charge.

FreedomPop uses the network of Three which is one of the most reliable networks in the UK.  However because FreedomPop is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) network, calls are made over the internet (much like Skype) so call quality can suffer. This can be solved with the Premium Voice add-on but this again comes at an additional cost each month.

FreedomPop’s Mobile’s Tariffs

To use FreedomPop you have to download the FreedomPop app (don’t worry, it’s free!). This can only be done on Android and iOS devices. Without the app, you won’t be able to make calls or send texts since it’s a VOIP network which means that your calls and texts are made over the internet.

As has already been mentioned, FreedomPop offers a free package – with this package you’ll only be charged if you exceed the allowance. If the allowance in the free package isn’t enough for you, there are a number of pay options to suit varying levels of usage. For £9.99 a month you can have 16GB of data and unlimited minutes and texts, for example. FreedomPop does offer some unlimited tariffs, but these come with a fair usage policy so make sure you check the small print to ensure you stay within limits!

One significant benefit of FreedomPop is that if you’re not using enough data, you have the option to roll over up to 500MB per month. However, it’s worth knowing that there is a £1.49 charge each time you do this. As well as rolling over data you can even share some it with your friends and family as long as they’re also with FreedomPop.
