With all the power you could ever need, a huge display, and tonnes of extra features, this is one of the best selling Android phones and a real high-end device. Think you can handle it? Then just check out our great deals on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus below.
Samsung’s Galaxy S series dominates the high end Android phone market, and has done for a fair few years. But with top competitor Apple focussing on their high end iPhone specs, Samsung isn’t without a challenger in the field. Fortunately, the Galaxy S8 Plus looks set to be the best phablet yet, a worthy competitor to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. Yes, you’re going to be paying a hefty price, but the S8 Plus is more than worth it.
Why should you be anxious to get your hands on one? Firstly, there’s that huge, top end screen, one of the best displays on the market right now. But there’s also lots of power, lots of extra features, a decent camera set, and tons of internal storage as well. If you’re looking into the best of the best, then the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has got to be top of your list.
Lovers of the Galaxy series will immediately recognise this phone. The sexy sleek edges and rounded corners are Samsung through and through. There are a couple of new design details, however. The new “infinity display” stretches almost around the phone itself, creating a nearly bezel-less screen that takes up all the available space, and the physical home button is gone, replaced by a haptic feedback button on screen. But premium build quality still leaves the S8 Plus feeling solid and robust in the hand.
Looks aside, you’re getting some very nice internals. Compared to the older S7 model, there’s more power, a better display, more internal storage, and more special features. Cameras haven’t changed too much, but they’re still excellent devices with great picture quality. And the S8 Plus features wireless charging, and is waterproof too.
The S8 Plus is a top shelf device, and you’re going to be making a big investment. But with specs like these, that shouldn’t come as a surprise. The combination of looks, performance, and added extras all make this one of the best Android phablets money can buy.
Obviously great performance is paramount in a top end phone, nobody wants to waste their money. And the S8 Plus delivers in spades. You’re running octo core processing power (made up of a quad core 1.7 GHz and a quad core 2.3 GHz processor) along with a full 4 GB of RAM. This means that the S8 Plus is super fast, very responsive, and great at multi tasking.
This is an Android device, as we’d expect to see from Samsung. You’ll be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, the latest OS version, so expect stability, security, speed, and cool features (like being able to use separate profiles). A new Android version will be released soon, and Samsung phones are usually amongst the first to receive updates.
Performance here is second to none. The S8 Plus is truly fast and responsive, with no lag or freezing. There’s enough power here to satisfy even the most demanding user.
This S8 Plus has one of the best displays around, and as a phablet you’re getting a huge screen. There’s a full 6.2 inches of real estate, so typing is comfortable and video watching is perfect. This is an infinity screen, meaning there’s little bezel, and the screen covers almost the entire front of the phone. Even so, you’re unlikely to be able to use the S8 Plus one handed.
Resolution wise you’re getting the full 1440 x 2960 pixels, which works out to around 529 PPI. This means that the display is clear and crisp. And, of course, this is a signature Samsung Super AMOLED screen, so colour reproduction is excellent with dark blacks and bright whites. Viewing angles are also fantastic.
This is simply one of the best displays we’ve seen. From high end gaming to HD videos, there’s nothing that doesn’t look beautiful on this screen.
Samsung haven’t upgraded the cameras from the older S7 model, however, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since this is a great camera set. Why mess with a good thing? At the front you’re looking at an 8 MP cam with auto focus, perfect for great selfies and for video calling too.
At the rear you’ve got a 12 MP cam. For pros who know the jargon this is an f/1.7, 26 mm camera. You’re getting all the usual bells and whistles too, with phase detection auto focus, touch focus, LED flash, panorama mode, HDR and the like. Plus, you can record full 4K video and take 9 MP still images simultaneously.
There are better mobile cameras around, but not many. And picture quality speaks for itself, the snaps you get on the S8 Plus are bright, clear and very, very satisfying, even when taken in low light conditions.
As a flagship phone there are tons of special features on the S8 Plus, and we can’t get into all of them here, but a couple deserve special mention. You’re getting a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner, and a face scanner, so security shouldn’t be an issue here. The device is also IP 68 certified, so it’s dust proof and waterproof for up to thirty minutes in depths of over a metre and a half.
You’ll get wireless charging for added convenience, and a large 3500 mAh battery, which should last a good long time. You can also make use of DeX, which lets you connect your phone to an external display and then use it as you would a desktop (you’ll need to purchase the DeX stand separately).
Last, but not least, a revamped user interface makes the S8 Plus more intuitive and easier to use than ever. And you get a new friend: Bixby is Samsung’s new voice activated digital assistant. Bixby will help you perform phone oriented tasks like searching for photos in your gallery, for example.

If you’re looking for the best phablet that money can buy, then the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus needs to be seen to be believed. Jam packed full of power and extra features, and with one of the best displays around right now, this is a serious contender for phone of the year. Even the most demanding buyer can’t fail to be impressed with the S8 Plus.
You’ll get all the usual connectivity choices, so 3G, 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth. There’s a full 64 GB of internal storage, but there is also an SD card slot for up to 256 GB of extra space should you need it.
Right, any complaints from us? Not really. We would like to see a slightly bigger battery, but that’s the case with nearly every phone we see. A camera upgrade would have been nice too, but the camera set is actually very good, so we shouldn’t be petty. The bottom line is that this is a fantastic phone, and one that even the most demanding user is going to fall in love with. If you’re looking for a top end phablet, then the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has to be the top contender.
