    About the LG V30

LG aren’t always the most reliable of manufacturer. Sure, they’ve produced some of the greatest phones ever made, like the Nexus 5X, but then they’ve also released flops like the modular LG G5. But with their newest release, the V30, they’re out to prove that they really do have what it takes to make a high class, top end phone, and this phone should silence all the doubters out there.

Why should you want one? Well, there are plenty of flagship specs, including tons of power and RAM and a fantastic display. But there’s also excellent audio quality and great cameras, making this a phone that ticks all the boxes. Yes, it’s expensive, but you’re certainly getting what you pay for here.

Key Features on the LG V30

There’s no doubt that this is a good looking device. The V30 has a slim profile, sharp edges and smooth, rounded corners. That screen fills up the entire front panel, there’s no physical home button, and the glass and metal build make this light weight. Yet the V30 sits comfortably and firmly in the hand, thanks to a curved back plate, and hand feel is robust and premium.

Design aside, the V30 gets some very impressive internals. There’s huge processing power and plenty of RAM, there are top end dual cameras, a high definition display, and some of the best mobile audio tech around, along with a bunch of extra special features too.

As a premium phone the LG V39 has a premium price tag, but with specs like this that should come as no surprise. And this is one of the best mobiles around right now, and certainly one of the most balanced when it comes to specs and features.

    Power and Performance

Obviously you’re going to be looking for top end performance here, and these specs should more than satisfy your needs. You’re getting octo core processing with a quad core 2.45 GHz and a quad core 1.9 GHz processor running side by side, and a full 4 GB of RAM. That means super fast speeds and great responsiveness.

This is an Android phone, and out of the box you’ll be running Android 7 Nougat. However, an update for Android 8 Oreo is in the works and should be available in the very near future. This will give you some nice new features as well as more security and stability.

In terms of performance you’ll hear no complaints from us. The LG V30 is fast, responsive and intuitive. Even the custom skin that LG have laid on top of Android is easy to use and isn’t loaded down with bloatware. Top marks for performance here!

    Display Specs

On to the display, and this is a fantastic screen. You get a full 6 inches of screen space, which is tons of room, and thanks to some of the thinnest bezels around (there’s an 81.2% screen to body ration) the V30 is still compact and relatively small. You might not quite be using this device with one hand, but you’ll come pretty close.

Resolution wise you’re getting 1440 x 2880 pixels, so about 537 PPI. And this is an 18:9 ration screen, in keeping with recent trends. This is also a P-OLED screen so not only is picture quality clear and sharp, but colour reproduction is awesome as well.

In short, this display is beautiful to look at. Whether you’re playing high end games or watching high definition video, the LG V30’s screen is a pure joy to look at.

    The Camera Set

And the V30 isn’t going to let you down when it comes to mobile photography either. There’s a brilliant camera set here. At the front you get a 5 MP, f/2.2 aperture camera with a 1/5” sensor, which is superb for video calling and selfies.

Around at the back, however, you’re getting the best in dual camera tech. There are two lenses here: a 16 MP (with f/1.6 aperture) and a 13 MP (with f/1.9 aperture) for the sharpest shots around. You also get optical image stabilisation, LED flash, lase and phase detection auto focus, and all the expect bells and whistles like HDR, panorama mode, touch focus and face detection.

If all that’s a bit too techie for you, just know that pictures taken on the V30 are excellent, sharp and clear with great colour reproduction. This is a camera set that’s sure to please even the most demanding mobile photographer.

    And All the Rest…

There are tons of special features here, but there are a few that need special mention. This is a water resistant phone, an IP 68 rating means that it’s fine in water of up to 1.5 metres in depth for up to thirty minutes.

The V30 doesn’t offer the second screen seen on early V series phones, instead there’s now the Floating Bar. This feature floats an easy access bar across your screen (which can be minimised when necessary) to allow you quick access to your most used apps.

But the real star here has to be audio quality. The V30 offers Quad DAC meaning you can tweak sound quality in all kinds of ways to get the best audio, as well as the newest in wireless audio tech to ensure that wireless headphones receive the best sound available. But you do also get the traditional headphone jack if you prefer wired headphones. Music lovers will love the LG V30.

Finally, there’s a large 3300 mAh battery for long battery life. But when that battery does run down you get the option of wireless charging, or wired fast charge tech that will give you a 50% charge in around thirty minutes.

    LG V30 Review

The LG V30 is a top end phone with fantastic specs. You get loads of power, an amazing screen, great cameras, and tons of special features as well as some of the best audio quality around. If you’re looking for the best Android flagship phone then the LG V30 should be top of your list, it’s incredible.

In terms of connectivity, you get all the usual options: 3G, 4G, WiFi, and the latest 5.0 version of Bluetooth. Internally you’re looking at 64 GB of RAM, which should be more than enough storage space. However, the V30 does come with an SD Card slot so you can add up to 256 GB of extra memory should you need it.

Right, so what don’t we like? There really isn’t anything major, this is a brilliant device. The front camera could have slightly higher resolution, though in truth it does take great pics. The V30 doesn’t get the latest version of Android, but it is slated for an update, so we can’t really complain. On the whole, this is one of the best Android phones around. If you want a top end phone with top end specs and top end audio, then check out the LG V30, you’re going to love it!
