About the iPhone 7 256GB Black

Once an innovative leader in the mobile world, it’s been a while since we’ve seen anything really new from Apple. However, things look set to change with the new iPhone 7. Removing the headphone jack in favour of a faster lightening connection is controversial, but could be a wise move. And with high end Androids getting faster, bigger and better, Apple really need a winner this time. Fortunately, the iPhone 7 is ticking all the boxes.

What do you have to look forward to? Speedy, responsive performance, for one thing, and there’s always that great Apple styling and design. But you’re getting solid cameras, water resistance, and even stereo sound as well. If you’re shopping at the top end of the market, then an iPhone 7 is certainly worth more than a fleeting look.

Key Features on the iPhone 7

In looks the iPhone 7 is very familiar, and there are few style differences between this and the older 6 models. There’s glass and metal unibody build, making the 7 lightweight but sturdy, the profile is slim, the edges sleek, and the corners gently rounded. But the camera bump is a little larger here, and the physical home button no longer gives a click when pushed, since it’s haptic it now simple vibrates.

Aside from those good looks, there’s some nice upgrades to the internals as well, as you’d expect from a newer model. Speeds are that little bit faster, colour reproduction better, and even the cameras have some neat new features. On top of all that, this is the first water resistant iPhone model as well.

You’re going to be paying premium prices for the iPhone 7, but then, this is a premium hand set. It’s got the looks, it’s got the performance, it’s got the features. All of which means that this is going to be one of the year’s top selling mobiles.

The Display…

Let’s begin with the display, since this is the major component on a modern smart phone. You’ve got a 4.7 inch screen, which is in keeping with Apple’s tendency to keep their basic model small (saving larger screens for the Plus line). But 4.7 inches is more than enough for easy typing on screen, and the iPhone 7 does fit very nicely in a pocket, which is more than can be said for many high end phones.

When it comes to resolution, the news isn’t all good. You’re not getting a true HD screen yet, with a mere 750 x 1334 pixels (around 326 PPI). But the news isn’t all bad either, since the 7 makes up for this by having some of the best colour reproduction around. With an LED backlit LCD screen colours are bright, true and natural, and added IPS makes for great viewing angles as well.

No, this isn’t the best screen on the market, but it’s far from the worst. The display could be sharper, but that colour reproduction really makes up for that, and the display is a pleasure to look at.

CPU and OS Specs

Apple don’t generally release concrete numbers when it comes to internal specs, but the iPhone 7 does seem to have quad core processing, and it’s definitely running the new Apple A10 Fusion chip set. Add to this 2 GB of RAM and you’ve got a mobile that’s very fast indeed, and exceptionally responsive to input.

Obviously this is going to be an iOS device, and you’re running the new iOS10 out of the box. The newest OS version gives you more speed and stability as well as some nice new features. The user interface has been simplified and menus are less cluttered, you get better lock screen notifications, and you can now wake your phone simply by picking it up.

You’ll hear no complaints about performance from us here. The iPhone 7 has more than satisfactory speeds, and even demanding users should find that there’s no lag or lack of response to input. All in all, top marks.

And the Cameras…

If you’re a photography fan, then you’re going to love the iPhone 7’s cam set. At the front you’re getting a 7 MP device, very high res for a front facing camera, and that gets HDR and auto face detection too.

Moving around to the back and you’ll see the familiar 12 MP camera featured on the iPhone 6 models, but with some nice extras added in. There’s quad LED flash, meaning inside and low light photography is excellent, simpler user interface controls, and a host of regular features such as HDR, phase detection auto focus, and simultaneous 4K video recording and 8 MP picture taking.

The iPhone 7 takes some exceptional pictures, bottom line. Whether you take amateur snaps or you’re more professional, you’ll be more than satisfied with the excellent image quality that you’re getting here.

Other Features…

There are a few other things that we really need to mention here. First up, the iPhone 7 is water resistant. It’s IP67 rated, meaning it’s good in water up to a meter deep for up to thirty minutes. Plus, you’re getting dual external speakers for true stereo sound, as opposed to the normal mono speaker seen on most mobiles.

Then there’s the lack of headphone jack. You can choose to invest in Apple’s wireless headphones if you wish, however you can also plug headphones into the lightening charger port. This transfers data faster, resulting in better sound quality. However, you will need special headphones, or will have to use the included adaptor for your normal cans, and this does mean no simultaneous charging and music listening…

iPhone 7 256GB Black Review

This is Apple’s newest release, and it’s a great one. From it’s increased speeds and response times, to it’s awesome cameras, water resistance, and beautiful colour reproduction. You will be making a big investment, but this is unlikely to be a purchase that you’re going to regret, since it’s quite simply the best iPhone around right now.
When it comes to connectivity, there’s the usual suspects: WiFi and Bluetooth, 3G and 4G (though the iPhone 7 supports more LTE bands than previous models). You’ll be getting a monster 256 GB of internal storage here, which is a lot, though remember that there’s no SD card slot, so no extra external memory can be added (but you do get an iCloud account for online storage).
What don’t we like here? Not much, actually. We’d prefer slightly higher screen resolution, but the colour reproduction angle makes up for that. The haptic home button is a little odd at first, but we quickly got used to it. The bottom line here is that the iPhone 7 is a great device. If iOS is your thing, and you’re prepared to pay for a premium product, then Apple’s new iPhone 7 is going to be a great buy for you.
