An iPhone that ends in an S is generally not a huge upgrade from the original model, but with the iPhone 6S Apple are just setting out to prove us wrong. This is a full upgrade from the original 6 model, with better processing power, better cameras, a better screen, and pretty much better everything. If you’ve been skipping the Apple S generation, then you might want to reconsider with this one. The iPhone 6S is by far the best we’ve seen from Apple for a long time, and it’s awesome. Why should you be itching to get your hands on one? Well, it’s faster and has better performance. But the 6S also has fantastic cameras, and that new screen tech is truly innovative. Apple fans will be rejoicing, but even Android fans might find themselves tempted here. The iPhone 6S is a fantastic device, and one that’s going to please any user.
Okay, the 6S is a little thicker than previous iPhones, mostly because of that new screen tech. However, it’s not fat, and it’s definitely not unwieldy. You’re still getting that trademark Apple styling, with sleek lines, smooth corners and a minimalist feel. It’s a glass and metal unibody build, so hand feel is top quality here. All in all, the 6S is the kind of good looking phone that you’d expect from Apple. Looks aside, you’re getting some nice internals too. This is the fastest, highest powered mobile that we’ve seen from Apple. Not only that, but you’re getting full camera upgrades, and some cool new screen tech as well. Add in a few special features and you’ve got a fantastic phone. The iPhone 6S isn’t just a great upgrade to the 5S, it’s also a great upgrade to the original iPhone 6. If you want something that’s powerful, fast, cool and very sexy, then this is going to be the phone for you.
Let’s start with the feature that probably most people are excited about. The iPhone 6S has a 4.7 inch display, so it’s not huge, but that does mean that it’s very portable and on screen typing is still fine, which is important. But it’s the 3D touch tech that’s got people drooling, and it is pretty cool. Basically, the screen can detect the difference between a regular touch and a harder touch, and acts in kind of the same way as the right and left click buttons on a computer mouse act. You get two kinds of input with two different results, making for a screen that’s much more useful. You can’t compare Apple resolution numbers to those of other manufacturers, because the tech is simply different. This is a 750 x 1334 pixel display, which gives you about 326 PPI. But because this is a Retina display, those numbers mean very little. The LED backlit screen is simply flawless, sharp, clear with true colours, and IPS means that viewing angles are great too. The bottom line is that the display on the 6S is close to perfect. Whatever you’re doing, from gaming to HD video, you’re getting a display that’s a true pleasure to look at.
Generally Apple don’t release CPU numbers, and you can’t compare the numbers of an Apple chip set with those from another manufacturer anyway. What Apple are saying is that the new A9 chip set makes the 6S up to 70% faster than the regular 6 model. And this is a noticeable difference. Add in 2 GB of RAM (the 6 had only 1 GB) and you’re getting a phone that’s lightening fast and super responsive as well. This is an Apple device, so unsurprisingly you’re running iOS. The new iOS9 version has the familiar intuitiveness that you love, but has a couple of new features too. There’s a new low power mode, which is useful for saving battery juice. There’s also the addition of a screen button to take you back to a previous app, which is pretty handy too. Performance wise you can never judge an iPhone by the numbers (even if you can get your hands on them). But safe to say this is the fastest iPhone yet, and you’re going to be more than satisfied with its performance.
Moving on to the cameras, and both devices have had upgrades. The front, video calling, camera is a 5 MP affair that features screen flash. This basically lets the screen of your device light up brightly, acting in the same way as a traditional flash. At the rear you’re getting a 12 MP camera, a big step up from the 8 MP cam on the regular iPhone 6. It’s got 4608 x 2592 pixel resolution, which is incredible. Plus you get all the extras: dual LED flash, 4K video recording, phase detection autofocus, panorama mode etc. All this means that the 6S takes some brilliant photos. If you’re serious or an amateur, the cameras on the 6S are the best yet, and that makes them very good indeed.
There are a few more things that you should know about the 6S. You’re getting a fingerprint scanner for better security. You’ll also have access to Apple Pay,which is Apple’s new digital wallet and payment service. Siri, Apple’s digital assistant, has had some upgrades too. She can now complete more complex actions and answer more complicated questions. This allows you, for example, to ask her to find pictures of you from last year, rather than only being able to ask her to find pictures of you. Finally, the camera settings now have something called Live Photo. If you switch this one you’ll be able to take a regular picture, but the video recorder will begin taping 1.5 seconds before your picture and stop 1.5 seconds after. This gives you both the regular picture and a mini movie moment, which is kind of nice.

Th iPhone 6S is simply one of the best phones that we’ve seen. It’s fast, performance is excellent, those camera specs are great, the new screen tech is cool, it’s really difficult not to gush. It might be an S series iPhone, but it’s still a brilliant device, and one that pretty much anyone is going to love.
You’ll get the expected connectivity, so WiFi, 3G, 4G and Bluetooth, though advanced LTE means that you’re getting faster mobile internet speeds than regular 4G. This version has 16 GB of internal memory, and there’s no SD card slot, so you can’t add more. But if you’re using iCloud, Apple’s online cloud storage option, then this shouldn’t really be a problem.
Time for complaints then. Alright, we’d like an SD card slot, but Apple won’t give us that, we’re sure. The price tag is a little high too, but sometimes you just get what you pay for. And what you’re paying for is an absolute top of the line device, and one that’s going to perform close to perfectly. The iPhone 6S is awesome, trust us.
