A new iPhone S series model isn’t necessarily something to get excited about. In general, an S is just a tiny upgrade from a regular model. The new 6S is different though, and we mean that in a good way. This is a complete upgrade from the regular 6, and it’s got some stunning new features. Apple don’t always give us our money’s worth with an S model, but this is the exception that proves the rule. The iPhone 6S is going to be high on wish lists this year. And why should you want one? What about a whole new set of cameras with upgraded specs? Or maybe that new 3D touch screen tech? Or even the super speedy new chip set? There’s a lot to love about the new 6S, including that massive 128 GB internal memory. If you’re in the market for a flagship phone, then this is going to be an amazing choice.
This is an iPhone. It’s got the sleek lines, minimalistic styling and rounded curves that we’re all used to. It is a tad thicker than previous models, due to the new screen tech, but that only esrves to make the 6S more robust. It’s got a full glass and metal unibody, giving a real premium feel, and it sits comfortably and securely in the hand. Apart from those stunning good looks, the 6S has some impressive performance specs as well. You’re getting a new A9 chip set, making it super fast, as well as bigger and better cameras, tons of internal memory and a whole heap of other things. Yes, this is going to be a big investment, and yes, it’s going to be worth it. This is a top of the line device, and it’s got the credentials to prove it!
Obviously performance is key, and whilst Apple don’t release performance numbers per se (since an Apple processor can’t really be compared to another manufacturer’s anyway), the 6S is faster, and noticeably so. Apple are saying that the A9 chip set is up to 70% faster than the chip set on the old 6 model, and we can tell, especially when booting up. Plus, there’s now 2 GB of RAM on board (rather than the 1 GB on the iPhone 6) so multi tasking is a breeze. This is Apple, so you’re looking at iOS. But you are getting the newest iOS9 version, which is pretty sweet. Along with the intuitive interface that you’re used to, you’ll be getting a couple of nice new features. One of these is a low power mode to save juice, another nice touch is a “back to previous app” icon that’s useful for jumping back and forth between apps. Performance wise you’ll hear no complaints from us. The iPhone 6S is fast, responsive and very easy to use as well.
Alright, so this is really the main event. First up, we’ve got a 4.7 inch display, which is smaller than most flagships but does mean that the 6S slides nicely into the pocket. And it’s a 3D touch screen. Huh? Well, the display can detect the difference between a touch and a push and react differently to each. It’s sort of the same as the right and left click buttons on your computer mouse, and it definitely adds a whole new level to the user experience. Resolution numbers aren’t going to tell you much, but we’ll give them to you anyway. This is a 750 x 1334 pixel display, meaning you get around 326 PPI. However, this is a Retina display, which makes those numbers kind of meaningless. Plus, it’s got IPS and LED backlighting. In effect that makes this screen one of the best around. It’s bright, sharp, clear and viewing angles are awesome, as is colour reproduction. We’re not kidding when we say that this display is next to flawless. From picture quality to that new 3D touch tech this is everything you could want from a smart phone screen and more!
Apple aren’t big believers in big MP cameras, but surprisingly the 6S has had a full set of upgrades. The front camera is now a 5 MP FaceTime and selfie camera, which isn’t bad. And it’s got screen flash too, which lets the screen briefly flash light to act as a camera flash. Moving to the back there’s now a 12 MP camera (after years and years of 8 MP cams, this really surprised us). And there’s some nice features too. You’ll get 4K video recording, phase detection autofocus, a dual LED flash, and some pretty amazing 4608 x 2592 resolution. The bottom line is that you’re going to be getting some awesome pictures with the 6S. For photo lovers this is great news!
As if all that weren’t enough, we do have a few more things that we should mention. You’ll get the added security of a fingerprint scanner, which in turn means that you’ll be able to use Apple Pay. This is Apple’s new digital wallet and payment service which lets you complete financial transactions with your phone. Siri has been upgraded too, and if she was cool before she’s even cooler now. She can now respond to more complex instructions, which is kind of neat. Rather than asking her to find pictures of you, you can now, for example, ask her to find pictures of you taken last year. Neat. Finally, there’s a nice new camera mode too, which is called Live Photo. This lets you take a video and a photo at the same time. The video begins to record 1.5 seconds before a picture is taken and stops 1.5 seconds after, providing you with both the regular pic and a nice moving moment as well.

The new iPhone 6S is certainly the best we’ve seen from Apple in a while, and it’s well worth the price. With cool new screen tech, improved cameras, and faster performance, what’s not to love about it? The 6S is sure to be a top seller, but there’s a reason for that. It’s awesome.
When it comes to connectivity you’ll be getting the usual: WiFi, 4G, 3G, and Bluetooth. But with advanced LTE tech both WiFi and 4G should be faster. Internally you’ll be getting a monster 128 GB of storage with this model. There’s no SD card slot, but with that much internal memory on hand that shouldn’t really be an issue.
So, do we have any complaints? That’s a difficult one. Not really. The 6S is a pricey device, and a lower price tag would be nice, but you’re getting top quality here so it seems petty to complain about that. Other than the cost, we think that the new iPhone 6S is amazing. It’s a high end device from one of the best phone manufacturers around, and one that’s going to wow you!
