About the iPhone 6 128GB Gold

A new year, a new iPhone, same old, same old, right? Wrong. This year Apple have something special to offer us. The iPhone 6 is by far the best iPhone that we’ve seen so far, and not only are you getting power and screen upgrades, but you get some truly beautiful design tweaks as well, all of which make the iPhone 6 very desirable indeed.

What excites us? Hmmm, a lot. The 4.7 inch screen for one, and the better camera as well. Plus there’s all that internal storage space. The iPhone 6 is going to be a clear winner in this years bestseller lists, and with good reason: this is the most revolutionary phone that we’ve seen from Apple since the iPhone 4.

The iPhone 6’s Key Features

The iPhone 5S was all hard lines and squared edges, but the new iPhone 6 has been smoothed out and rounded, giving it an altogether more pleasing profile. The power button has moved from the top of the phone to the right hand side for easier access, and the whole thing is metal build, so it’s light, slim and has great hand feel. You’re clearly getting a premium product here, you can both feel it and see it.

But you can’t judge a phone by looks alone. Fortunately, the iPhoone 6 has got the specs to back up its space age design. Under the hood there’s a slew of upgrades on pretty much everything imaginable, so performance isn’t going to be an issue here at all.

If you’re a long time fan of Apple products you’ll be delighted with the new iPhone 6. If you’re a new Apple user, then rest easy that the iPhone 6 is a true competitor for larger Android phones. Apple have created one of the best iPhone models we’ve ever seen, and the sleek, sexy 6 is a very very tempting device.

Display Specs

The first thing that you’re going to notice about the iPhone 6 is that it’s bigger than previous models. That’s because Apple have given us all the larger screen that we all wanted, and the 6 now measures in at 4.7 inches. Not the biggest screen around, certainly, but big enough and comfortable to use with one hand as well.

But this is about more than size. The iPhone 6 has had upgrades when it comes to resolution too. It’s now getting 730 x 1334 pixels which means 326 PPI on an HD Retina screen. For you that means there’s a clear, sharp, well defined picture that gets excellent colour reproduction. Viewing angles are good too, thanks to that Retina technology.

We’ve been complaining for a long time about the state of screens on iPhones, and Apple have finally listened. Now we’ve finally got the display we always wanted, and the screen that the iPhone always deserved to have.

Power and OS Specs

You can’t have a phone without a decent engine driving it, so we’re thankful that Apple have equipped the iPhone 6 with top of the line specs for an iPhone. There’s a dual core 1.4 GHz processor, an Apple A8 chip set and 1 GB of RAM. Bottom line? The iPhone 6 is very responsive and pretty fast too. There are no performance complaints here.

On the operating system front, this model runs the new iOS 8 version, which has a fair few new features itself. The highlights have got to be music recognition skills for Siri and the new predictive keyboard. Having said that, even SMS and email programmes have had an overhaul for iOS 8, so there’s plenty of new stuff for everyone.

Memory Issues

Let’s not forget that we’re talking about a 128GB phone model here. That’s a massive amount of internal memory. No, seriously, that amounts to somewhere over 30,000 songs. Okay, this is Apple, so there’s no option to add storage. However, 128GB is more than any other phone model on the market, and more than most of us will ever need.

If you love storing all your music on your phone, hating deleting photos, want to run big gaming apps, then the iPhone 6 has more than got you covered.

Cam Specs

You’ve got two cameras on the iPhone 6, as on most phones these days. The front facing camera is a 1.2 MP device, and now features better focussing and face recognition abilities as well as the ability to film in HDR.

On the rear side there’s an 8 MP camera, which is what we’ve come to expect from Apple. Don’t be fooled by that low resolution though, the iPhone 6 takes amazing pictures. This is due to several factors, including a new sensor that gives you faster focus time, dual tone flash for more natural colours, and the fact that HDR is the default setting.

Don’t forget that you’ll get all the normal things too: panorama and burst modes, digital image stabilisation, face recognition etc. You’re going to be taking some awesome snaps with the iPhone 6.

Added Bonuses

There are a few other things worth mentioning on the iPhone 6. It does get better battery life than the iPhone 5S, which is good news if you hate charging your phone all the time. You’re looking at 11 hours over WiFi and about 10 hours with 3G or 4G.

Connections are faster: LTE is now promising up to 150 Mbps, and WiFi is almost three times faster thanks to new protocols. You’ll get WiFi calling and VoLTE as part of the package too.

Yes, you’re getting your fingerprint sensor for security, you’re also getting a barometric sensor on the new co-processor. There is full NFC support, though you’re probably not going to able to use digital payment in the UK for a while yet.

iPhone 6 128GB Gold Review

The iPhone 6 is one of the best and most revolutionary iPhones that we’ve seen in the sense that it’s a big upgrade from last year’s model. That new screen is awesome, and there are so many new features that we really don’t have space to list them all.

You’ll get the regular stuff too though. There’s Bluetooth, 4G, and all of Apple’s cool standard apps, including their great scheduling software.

What don’t we like? We actually really like almost everything. We would like to see more camera resolution, but we love the new sensor and dual tone flash, so they kind of make up for the 8 MP rear facing camera. If you’re looking for a great phone then the iPhone 6 is a great choice, and it’s eye catching as well as having awesome performance, so what more could we ask for?
