With a 4 inch screen, this seventh generation smartphone from the Cupertino based company is definitely the thinnest iPhone yet. As a part of display standards – the screen is powered by Apple’s proprietary display technology – Retina Display! With an aspect ratio of 16:9, the screen looks wide and manages to provide a resolution of 1136X640 pixels. Also, with the smartphone measuring just 7.9mm in thickness, the iPhone 5s is pretty much the same as the iPhone 5 in terms of dimensions. The phone weighs just 112g, making it one of the lightest smartphone in the market. The mass is less than most other Android and Windows smartphones that have recently released.
As anticipated, and promised, Apple has stuck to its claims by coming up with a technology to significantly increase the battery life of the device. A new processor, which the Apple calls the M7, has been included in the smartphone. The M7 takes care of collecting and processing the information from the motion sensor based features equipped in the 5s such as the gyro, accelerometer, compass and more. This eliminates the need for the A7 to handle the information, making more room in the memory and extending the life span of the device.
The fact that Apple failed to increase the resolution of the iSight camera arrived as disappointing news for most Apple lovers because an increase in the mega-pixels of the camera was one of the most anticipated features of the 5s. However, it didn’t happen, and users have to make do with the same 8MP camera that ships with the device. However, certain significant changes have been made in terms of the camera and its related features, such as: the camera can now capture images under low light efficiently and dim light setting will no longer be a hindrance for all those amateur photographers out there. There are two LED flashes at the rear end of the phone that determine the intensity and colour temperature, and flash accordingly. Besides this, the phone sports a 1.2MP Facetime camera that supports 720p resolutions and some convenient camera features like slow-motion video, better UX and the like.
Powered by a first-of-its-kind A7 processor, the iPhone 5s is now equivalent to a computer in terms of computing abilities. The new processor is a dual core A7 processor that operates at a clock speed of 1.3GHZ. It is designed in such a way that tasks can be launched, carried out and handled smoothly. Gaming in this smartphone is truly incredible. The Graphics department is taken care of by a quad core GPU chipset that functions seamlessly to deliver graphics and performance that are close to that of consoles. The processor is truly a killer of an inclusion in the smartphone and allows users to perform computer intensive tasks on their iPhone 5s devices.
If there’s one thing that will drive the sales numbers of this device, it is TouchID technology. A replacement to the passcode feature, this technology allows users to gain access to their phones using their fingerprint. A sensor rests underneath the home button that scans the fingerprint every time users wish to unlock their phones. Apple allows users to register and store up to 5 fingerprints imprints, and use any of them to unlock their devices – an innovative technology that will further enhance the security of the device.
The colours in which the iPhone 5 will roll out include the black, the white and gold. The aluminum chassis gives it a premium look. Of all the smartphones releasing in the market, Apple’s iPhone range of smartphones truly have one of the most elegant finishes – sleek, stylish and a class apart. Once held, users are bound to feel good with the matte finish and the aluminum chassis.
Apart from this, the iPhone 5s retains most of the features of the iPhone 5. This includes connectivity features, the screen size, the location of ports and speakers and the like. Given its features and performance, the iPhone 5s is indeed one of the best smartphones in the market.

There is a lot to like about iPhone 5s Gold – starting with the 32GB storage which can store an awful lot of video and music. We had a lot of fun with the fingerprint sensor (it actually works!) and the retina display is great to look at. The camera is a solid performer too and takes high resolution pictures and also records videos at 1080p (full HD).
The iPhone 5s is really fast too, the A7 chip coupled with M7 processor makes everything very slick. It is not the first iPhone with a scratch-proof screen but is something worth mentioning nevertheless as the phone feels premium throughout.
Any let downs? The price might some people off but that’s always been the case with Apple products and they’ll argue you get what you pay for. We’re hard pushed to find any real criticisms, this a great smartphone.
