The 5s receives a major technical boost this time and has been designed to deliver power-packed performances. Working with the iPhone 5s, one will feel that the phone is an attempt to bridge the gap between computing and mobile computing. Apple has infused an all-new and powerful 64-bit A7 processor that functions at a clock speed of 1.3GHz. The physical memory requirements of the device are taken care of by the one GB of RAM, while the video memory requirements of the smartphone are catered to by a quad core chipset. Thanks to such powerful specifications, games are highly immersive and offer an amazing experience. High-end games appear impeccable, and the audio quality is commendable as well.
Another major inclusion is the M7 processor, which is introduced as a sidekick to the A7. The responsibility of the M7 is to process information from motion sensor components in the phone, such as gyro, accelerometer and the like, and assist the A7 in delivering better performance. Due to this, the phone has a better battery life as well.
The smartphone runs on Apple’s latest version of mobile operating system and allows the device to function seamlessly. The OS includes several new features and has capabilities to handle complex tasks at ease.
One of the limitations here is the storage capacity of the device. Restricted to just 16GB, the device allows users to store data within the limits. Memory expansion is impossible because of the absence of a slot for external memory.
One of the most innovative features that makes this version the bearer of better technology is the TouchID. It is technology developed by Apple to offer better security and encryption to its users. The TouchID feature arrives as a reliable alternative to the passcode feature that required users to type in their secret codes to unlock their devices. The TouchID now makes use of the newly included scanner (resting underneath the revamped home button) to scan the fingerprints of users and allow access to the phone only if found verified. The technology works well and offers high security to users, as intended by Apple. According to Apple, a maximum of 5 fingerprints can be scanned and registered in the phone. Users can use any of the fingerprint and gain access to the phone and its content. For first time registration, the device takes just 30 seconds to get the fingerprint of users scanned.
The latest iteration from Apple sports a 4 inch display which is built around an IPS panel. Retina display, is the technology that powers the screen, resulting in the phone delivering optimum visual clarity. At a maximum resolution of 1136×640 pixels and a pixels-per-inch ratio of 326, the images look stunningly crisp and clear. Watching high quality videos, browsing through the images and playing games is just fun on this phone.
The phone’s design is impeccable as usual. It is built around an aluminum chassis that offers a sturdy look, despite making the phone look sleek. The phone is slimmer and less heavy than the 5C, and has a mass of 112g and a thickness of 7.9mm. Due to the size of the screen, the phone makes users feel good to hold and fits conveniently in the hand. Most of the hardware features remain the same in the 5s, similar to the iPhone 5 except for the change in the home button. The classic home button has undergone a massive makeover, where the square layout has been replaced with a circular ring. Apart from offering visual appeal, it also is the scanner for the TouchID technology.
The iPhone 5s is truly a great smartphone for anyone looking for ‘performance for a price.’ The inclusion of new revolutionary features makes this phone one of the best smartphones in the market today.

The iPhone 5s has very catchy design and the iOS 7 software compatibility combined with the A7 processor are all top-notch features. The light silver colour on this particular model has a very nice feel to it. It’s hard to pick a real stand out feature as the phone performs well in all areas but TouchID is certainly something very new and works very well for unlocking the device as well for purchasing from iTunes or the App store.
The camera is an improvement over the 5 too and can take some good quality photos without the user needing a Degree in photography. Integration with Twitter and Facebook makes sharing them a breeze too.
Any negatives? None for us really, some reports suggest the battery isn’t great but in our testing it coped well and wasn’t something that alarmed us. All in all this is a top notch smartphone and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.
