About the iPhone 11 Pro Max

The launch of the new iPhones every autumn is always a cause for celebration. And 2019 brought us 3 new models. The biggest and best of these is the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s also the highest powered and largest iPhone on the market. But is it really worth all that cash? The answer to that has to be yes if you’re an Apple fan, or if you’re looking for a top class mobile.

Why should you want the 11 Pro Max? There’s plenty of power, obviously, as well as a redesigned camera set. And that screen is not only huge, it’s also crystal clear and very sharp. Then there’s all the bells and whistles that Apple are renowned for, like Siri, for example. All in all this phone is the complete package, and one even demanding customers are going to love.

Key Features on the iPhone 11 Pro Max

Clearly, this is an iPhone. From those sleek edges to those smooth corners, the 11 Pro Max could only be an Apple device. The glass and aluminium build keeps the weight down, but it also gives the Pro Max a satisfyingly premium hand-feel.

Apple styling aside, the Pro Max packs some incredible specs. From power and RAM to that Super Retina display and those top of the line cameras, this is a serious phone. You’d be hard pressed to find better performance than that of the Pro Max.

Truthfully, you’re going to be spending a ton. The Pro Max is not a cheap device. However, you’re certainly going to be getting what you pay for. If you can swallow that hefty price tag, the Pro Max is an incredible phone.

Performance and Power Specs

Looking for fast? You’ve found it. The Pro Max is powered by hexa core processing, with both a dual core 2.65 GHz and a quad core 1.8 GHz processor on board. Couple that with a healthy 4 GB of RAM and Apple’s newest A13 Bionic chip set, and you’re looking at the most powerful iPhone on the market.

It goes without saying that the Pro Max is running iOS, and in this case you get the newest iOS 13 version out of the box. There are some nice new features, like a new voice for Siri and a dark mode, as well as a much-needed remodel of the photo app. And you get the extra speed and security of an up to date operating system build as well.

There’s little to say about performance on the Pro Max other than that it’s the best iPhone you can get. Fast, fluid, dependable, the Pro Max has more power than most of us will ever need.

That Display

The Pro Max gets a full 6.5 inch display, which gives you tons of room for viewing and typing, though it’s not great for one-handed use. Something else that could be a deal-breaker for some is that there is plenty of bezelling here, unlike many top end phones which are nearly all screen. However, this is a killer display if you ignore those bezels.

Resolution wise you’re looking at 1242 x 2688 pixels, so around 458 PPI. Combine that with the fact that this is an Apple Super Retina XDR OLED screen and you’ve got one of the best displays around. Deep blacks, clear whites, and a nice crisp picture make this a brilliant screen.

In short, the Pro Max is a pleasure to look at. No matter whether you’re watching HD video or just surfing the net, this display is second to none. Colour resolution in particular is extremely good, something that will please photographers.

Those Camera Specs

Speaking of photographers, let’s take a look at that camera set. Apple cameras have just been getting better and better, than the Pro Max is no exception to this. Up at the front you’re getting a dual lens camera, both 12 MP, f/2.2 lenses, and that’s 3D capable as well as HDR.

Around at the rear you’re seeing a whopping triple lens camera set with three 12 MP lenses. The first is an f/1.8, 26 mm wide; the second is an f/2.0, 52 mm telephoto; and the third is an f/2.4, 13 mm ultrawide. And obviously you get all the normal stuff, so quad-LED dual tone flash, phase detection autofocus, and optical image stabilisation.

If you’re not too technically inclined then the take home message here is that the Pro Max has awesome cameras. From low light to full sun, portraits to action shots, you’re going to be getting some excellent shots here. Even the pros will be happy with this camera set.

And All the Rest…

The Pro Max has tons of extras, and we don’t have space to talk about all of them, so we’ll just hit the highlights here. Security is excellent, you’ll get not only fingerprint sensors but also Apple’s facial recognition software. And there’s Apple Pay as well, for more secure credit card payments.

The Pro Max is both waterproof and dustproof. An IP68 certification means that the Pro Max is good in water of up to 4 metres in depth for up to 30 minutes. That doesn’t mean you should take it swimming, but it does mean that you’re in the clear if you’re a little accident prone.

As for battery life, you’re getting a 3969 mAh battery on board, which Apple says should give you around 20 hours of active talk time. The Pro Max does come with QI wireless charging, as well as fast charge tech to give you a 50% charge in just half an hour. One potential deal-breaker though: like most iPhones, there’s no headphone jack here.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max comes in a range of colours, you’ll have the choice of silver, gold, space grey, or midnight green. There are also three memory versions, with the option of 64 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB. Do remember that whilst higher memory versions are more expensive iPhones do NOT have SD card slots, so you won’t be able to add extra external storage.

iPhone 11 Pro Max Deals

Right, let’s get down to finances here. First up, the Pro Max is a high end phone and a popular one to boot, meaning that you should be able to buy it pretty much anywhere. If you’re looking at buying SIM free then you’re going to be paying £1149 for the 64 GB version, £1299 for the 256 GB, and £1499 for the 512 GB option. On contract, prices are starting at around £55 per month with a £150 upfront payment.

Contract shopping for the Pro Max means thinking about a couple of considerations. Firstly, do look for big data (or unlimited data) plans, since you’re likely to be online a lot with the Pro Max. The exception to this is if you’re constantly on WiFi, in which case take the savings from a lower data deal. Secondly, the larger your upfront payment the lower your monthly payment, so, if you can, put up a hefty payment initially.

In terms of deals and discounts, you’re not likely to find any on the Pro Max unfortunately. Apple don’t often discount their devices, at least until the next generation iPhones come out in 2020. One thing to keep in mind though is that Apple do generally offer trade in deals for older iPhone models. Alternatively, opting to go for the slightly older iPhone 10 models will help you save a chunk of change.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is a fantastic device. It’s fast, responsive, beautiful, it has a top class display and an excellent camera set. It doesn’t come cheap though, so this is going to be a big investment. But if you’re looking for a top of the line device, then you can’t do much better than the 11 Pro Max.

There are tons of large-screened phones around, but there’s only one monster iPhone, and that’s the 11 Pro Max. And what a phone it is. From the humongous amounts of power to the size and clarity of that display this is a killer device. We love the new camera set, and of course, there’s classic Apple design as well. If you’re in the market for a true top end phone, then you’re going to love the iPhone 11 Pro Max, just like we do!
