Samsung are a household name, and one that’s associated with awesome, top end devices. But as time goes on, can the manufacturer really keep topping themselves? The new Galaxy S7 is proof that at least for right now, they certainly can. With an amazing collection of specs, the S7 is one of the best phones on shelves right now, and one that’s sure to please even the heaviest of phone users.
Why should you want to get your hands on one? The always on display is incredible, there’s plenty of power under the hood, the cameras are awesome, and lots of special added features too. The real question is, why wouldn’t you want one? If you’re in the market for something top end, then the Galaxy S7 is as good as they come.
Why mess with a good thing? The S7 is almost identical to the S6, but since the S6 was truly beautiful, you won’t hear us complaining. Lines are sleek and slim, corners are rounded, and there’s a solid, premium quality to the glass front and back plates. There’s only one small difference: that back plate is now curved, allowing it to feel more stable and secure in the hand.
Aside from its looks, the S7 is a mind blowing phone. There’s plenty of power, speed and RAM, there’s a Quad HD always on display, there are some great cameras on board, really everything you could ask for. Oh, and the S& is fully compatible with Samsung’s VR devices too, if you’d like some virtual reality in your life.
This is a top end phone, and we’re not going to lie, you’re going to be paying a lot of money for this device. But you certainly get what you pay for. The Galaxy S7 has it all and then some, and it’s one of the greatest mobiles available right now.
Performance is obviously going to be your main concern, and the S7 has plenty of power. It’s got octo core processing, running a quad core 2.15 GHz processor and a quad core 1.6 GHz processor side by side. There’s also an astonishing 4 GB of RAM. Those factors combine to make a mobile that’s snappy, responsive and fantastic at multi tasking.
It should come as no surprise that this is an Android device, and it’s running the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Marshmallow has a ton of new features, maybe the best of which is the new Doze facility that allows you to save hefty amounts of battery power, so there’s less battery charging going on.
The only word for the S7’s performance is perfect. This phone can do anything and more, from running CPU intensive tasks like editing to playing high end video games, the S7 has faultless performance, and will satisfy even the most demanding user.
Screen specs are your second consideration here, and you’re getting a 5.1 inch always on display. That gives you plenty of room for comfortable on screen typing and excellent video watching, whilst still being small enough to side into a pocket. That always on tech means that even when you’re phone’s asleep there’s still a lit up clock showing important notifications. This allows you to see you’ve missed a call or got a text without having to wake up the phone and waste battery power.
When it comes to resolution, you’re getting Quad HD, with 1440 x 2560 pixels, giving you around 577 PPI. This means that your picture is sharp and clear. On top of that, this is a Samsung Super AMOLED display, so you’re also getting excellent colour reproduction and solid depth to your display as well.
We expect a lot from Samsung when it comes to displays, and the S7 definitely delivers. This is one of the best screens around, and no matter what you’re doing, it’s a pleasure to look at.
The S7 also comes with some very sweet cameras indeed, and even pros are going to be impressed here. Firstly, that front facing cam is a 5 MP camera, which is more than good enough for video calling and taking selfies. However, the main event is at the rear.
The rear camera on the S7 is a 12 MP affair, which doesn’t sound too promising until you hear the rest of the specs. That MP number isn’t high, but the camera here also has a f/1.7 apeture and 1.4 um pixel size. All this means that you get simply excellent shots, even in very low light conditions. Plus, you get the usual stuff: LED flash, phase detection auto focus, and the ability to record 4K video and take 9 MP photos at the same time, which is pretty neat.
All in all, the S7 just takes brilliant pictures. Whether you’re a pro or an amateur, you’re going to be getting great shots here.
As a top end, expensive device, you can expect to see a lot of special features on the S7, and there are far too many for us to list, though a few do deserve special mention. The S7 is waterproof, which is good news if you’re not always as careful as you should be with your phone.
It also gets great battery life. There’s a 3000 mAh battery, which should be more than enough to last you a day of normal usage. However, there’s also Quick Charge 2.0 charging, which gives you a whopping 60% charge in just thirty minutes, and the option to charge wirelessly as well if you prefer.
Last, but not least, the S7 is one of the first water cooled phones. There is a water cooling system inside the device that allows you to perform even the most CPU intensive tasks (think high end gaming) without your device heating up at all. The result? No over heating, and no lagging!

Yes, there are plenty of high end phones to choose from, but the Samsung Galaxy S7 is definitely one of the best options. With high power and speed, excellent performance, great cameras, and a beautiful display, it’s tough to see what more you could ask for in a phone. If you want the best, then the S7 is the phone that you’re looking for.
Connectivity wise you’re getting the usual suspects: WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G. Internally there are two memory options available, either a 32 GB model, or a 64 GB model. But Samsung has kindly included an SD card slot, so you can pump that up to a massive 200 GB of external memory if you need to.
So, any complaints? Not really. No, there’s no USB-Type C fast battery charging, which may be a disappointment to some. However, that just means that you can use your regular micro USB charger and you don’t need to buy new ones. But that’s it. We really can’t think of any other negative aspects. If you want a fantastic phone, if you want the best, then you’re going to want the Samsung Galaxy S7.
