About the Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB Green

securely in the hand. Corners are curved, edges are sharp and defined. All in all, the S6 Edge is a stunning looking device, both looking and feeling premium.

It’s not all about looks, we know, and the S6 Edge has the internals to back up that great looking exterior. Immense octo core processing power drives the S6 Edge, and this is one of the fastest phones on the market. Add in some solid cameras and a few nice features and you’ve got a truly awesome phone.

Samsung have proven that they really can do phones right. The S6 Edge has been redesigned from the ground up and it shows. This is not only the best release we’ve seen from Samsung in forever, but also one of the best releases bar none. If you want a high end phone the S6 Edge is a no brainer. Smart, fast, pure awesomeness.

Under the Hood of the S6 Edge

So, what’s driving the S6 Edge? There’s octo core processing power, which is as high as mobiles can go right now. There are two quad core processors running side by side, a 2.1 GHz and a 1.5 GHz. And then there’s a huge 3 GB of RAM. Add all that up and you’ve got not only speed (and lots of it) but also great responsiveness and amazing multi tasking ability.

This is an Android hand set, as you’d expect. And the S6 Edge is running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop version out of the box. Yes, Android gives you great customisation options and is intuitive. But the new version also gives you more security as well as some nifty new tricks (like being able to keep a personal and a business profile on your mobile).

It’s tough to compare performance on the S6 Edge with anything else, because not a lot else comes even close. If you’re looking for a fast, responsive phone that can handle even the most CPU intensive of tasks, then the S6 Edge more than fits the bill. Performance is incredible.

Display Specs

Of course the real selling point of the S6 Edge is the screen. This is a 5.1 inch display that covers the front panel and curves gently around the sides to give you two “Edges.” These Edges can function as newsfeeds or clocks, they can show missed calls or messages. But you can also use them as control panels, letting you do things like control the camera settings whilst keeping your main screen clear and uncluttered (and giving you a better view of what you’re photographing).

Screen quality is amazing. This is a 1440 x 2560 pixel display, giving you about 577 PPI. That means sharp, clearly defined lines and images. But it’s also a Super AMOLED display, giving better colour reproduction, brighter shades and truer blacks.

A screen is obviously important in a smart phone, and the S6 Edge has one of the best screens on the market. From HD video to high graphics game playing, picture quality on the S6 Edge is second to none.

Picture Taking

As you’d expect, the Galaxy S6 Edge is equipped with two cameras: front and rear. At the front you’re looking at a 5 MP device, which is fairly high resolution for a camera that’s designed mostly for video calling and maybe taking a few selfies. You’ll get shots that are more than good enough for internet posting here.

At the rear the camera is a 16 MP device, which, being honest, isn’t the highest resolution camera on the market. However, them camera on the S6 Edge does have an impressive f1.9 aperture, which means that it’s excellent at taking low light pictures. You’ll get all the usual camera suspects too: panorama mode, auto focus, optical image stabilisation, LED flash, and face recognition.

For avid photographers the cameras on the S6 Edge will be just fine, with that f1.9 aperture more than making up for only a 16 MP camera. For the average photo taker the cameras on the S6 will be excellent. The S6 Edge takes some very decent pics.

Other Features

This is a flagship device, and there are tons of special features. However, there are a couple that you should know about. First up, the S6 Edge is equipped for wireless charging. This allows you to charge your hand set through the air in locations that offer wireless charging spots. Pretty handy if you don’t like carrying your charger around.

Secondly, whilst the S6 Edge has the same built in heart monitor that we saw on the Galaxy S5, the fingerprint scanner (which gives you added security) is now press to scan, a whole lot more reliable than the old swipe to scan model. Do be aware though the unlike the Galaxy S5, the S6 Edge is not waterproof.

Lastly, and we have to mention it because we love it, the S6 Edge does have a quick launch camera feature. Pressing the home button twice from any screen will launch the camera app in less than a second (Samsung claim in 0.7 seconds). Not bad if you like taking snaps on the go.

Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB Green Review

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a real top end flagship device. It’s got the looks, but it’s also for the internals, and performance is a dream. That curved screen might seem like a gimmick, but it actually ends up being very useful- especially for things like controlling music whilst reading on the main screen. In fact, this could well be the best mobile on shelves right now.

The S6 Edge has 4G, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options. What it doesn’t have, however, is an SD card slot. That means that you can’t add extra memory. Samsung will be selling three versions of the Edge, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, with non expandable memory.

Okay, so any complaints? Not really. The S6 Edge is a great hand set. We’re not big fans of the non removable battery, but in a unibody phone that’s to be expected, as is the lack of an SD card slot. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a monster of a phone, the numbers don’t lie. If you want the best mobile that you can get your hands on, then the S6 Edge has got to be a contender.
